Artist Statement

Where and how does reality become?

Art departures from any world we inhabit; whether it is a physical multi-dimensional one, an abstract one-dimensional one or something else. It starts with existential issues about how we perceive our surroundings through our sensory perception, thoughts and emotions; and how we have the ability to reflect on our own existence. How does a feeling affect other dimensions?

To us, reality is an onion; with many different layers, dimensions and plateaus held together with time, energy and spatiality. Those three manifest themselves in our psyche of pure practical reasons, but is not necessarily as intuitive as we perceive them. Both reality and the world is difficult to understand, not because it is complex or complicated, but because it is non-intuitive. Can it be that everything just is?

Artistry finds its way into this theory as a virus in a computer program; as a shimmer from invisible bridges in the void; as a tear inside our brain when we try to write this in a conventional language.

Through sculpture and poetry we give our thought processes physical form and choose material carefully. Which means that the material will be given space to speak for itself and express from its own connotations.

From a field of interest we contemplate, create a concept and materialize specific issues. Then we let the work relate concretely to a subject while its design is open. Thus creating an interplay of content and expression. Influenced by our background in philosophy and dance, art lets us create the map and the road at the same time. It invents its own language to utilize exploration in spaces and non-spaces we are still discovering.
